17.3.2025 The Unipi Extension series has been extended with the xS52, xS53 and xS54 modules. It brings improvements, especially in the number and variability of analog inputs, which are easily adapted to the needs of a specific measurement application.
Unipi Extension modules are a simple and affordable way to extend your project with additional inputs and outputs. Until now, Unipi customers could choose between the xS11 and xS51 modules. This series is expanding to include the Extension xS52, xS53 and xS54 models.
Key Features and Benefits
- All new extension modules have 8 analog inputs. Extension xS52 has resistance inputs, xS53 has voltage and current inputs and xS54 has universal inputs.
- Compatible with all Unipi controllers and any third-party device supporting RS485 and Modbus RTU
- All digital inputs have a counter function
- Inputs, outputs, and communication line are galvanically isolated
- Protection from power supply reverse polarity
- High-density 4x I/O per 1 DIN module: more measuring in less space
- Special features Direct Switch, Master Watchdog, default settings, user LEDs, manual and software configuration of communication parameters
- Product branding available
Overview of xS series models
Different variants of the new I/O extension modules allow the right combination of analog inputs needed for a specific measurement.
| Name | DI | RO | AI | AO | RS485 |
| the size on DIN rail: 4 modules = 7 cm | |||||
| xS11 | 12 | 13 | - | - | 1 |
| xS51 | 4 | 5 | 4 (voltage, current, resistance) | 4 | 1 |
| xS52 (new) | 4 | 5 | 8 (resistance) | - | 1 |
| xS53 (new) | 4 | 5 | 8 (voltage, current) | - | 1 |
| xS54 (new) | 4 | 5 | 8 (voltage, current, resistance) | - | 1 |
Fields of application
The new Unipi Extension Modules xS52, xS53 and xS54 are suitable for projects involving the measurement of analog components thanks to their higher number of analog inputs. Typical examples are measurement of temperature, humidity, pressure, CO2, position, or light intensity in building automation (BMS), HVAC or retrofit projects. Here, analog inputs ensure accurate, fail-safe measurements. Sensors connected to the analog inputs can be further supplemented with pulse sensors on the digital inputs.

Compatibility
To acquire prepared device definitions for easy and quick deployment of new Extension modules, do one of the following, depending on the software solution you are using:
If you are using Base OS with the Evok API for your solution, just update the evok packages to version 3.0.6.1 and evok-unipi-data to version 1.1.0.
Evok is included within Node-RED OS, so either update the mentioned packages as well or download and install the new Node-RED OS.
For Mervis, just open (update) your solution in the latest Mervis IDE (171888) to access the new device definitions in the library.
Customization
For the entire xS series, we offer product branding from 20pcs order.
