We are following up on our previous updates on developments in the memory market. Memory component prices remain high, and their future direction is difficult to predict. Effective 20th July 2026, we are therefore changing the price structure of the Unipi Edge product line: we now quote the price in two components – the standard price of the device and a separate surcharge for memory (RAM) and storage (eMMC). We want the price to show clearly at all times which part covers the device, and which covers the volatile state of memory components market. We explain the details below.
What is happening in the memory market
In early July 2026, Samsung announced another increase in DRAM chip prices, by 20% on average – already the third increase this year. According to TrendForce, memory supply will remain significantly constrained in the third quarter: DRAM contract prices are expected to rise by a further 13 to 18% quarter-on-quarter, and prices of NAND flash memory – which eMMC storage is also based on – by 10 to 15%. At this point, analysts do not expect the market to settle before 2027–2028.
The main cause remains the enormous demand for memory from AI infrastructure. Manufacturers are preferentially allocating capacity to HBM and other memory types intended for AI servers, which limits both the availability and the price stability of the conventional DRAM and eMMC components that our products are built on.
What this means for our prices
The price of products in the Edge line now consists of two items: the price of the device and the surcharge for RAM and eMMC. The surcharge is based on the prices our suppliers currently charge for memory components, and we add no margin to it.
There are two reasons why we are separating the surcharge from the device price. The first is transparency – the price makes it clear at all times how much you are paying for the device itself and how much for the memory components market state. The second is flexibility: we can adjust the separate item in either direction according to how the market actually develops. As soon as memory prices return to normal levels, we will reduce the surcharge accordingly, or possibly remove it entirely.
The nature of the surcharge also has a bearing on how it relates to customer discounts. Discounts apply to the device price. They do not apply to the surcharge – it is a cost item with no sales margin, so no discount can be given on it.

Other product lines are not affected by this change at this time. However, the memory market remains highly volatile, and we cannot rule out further changes. Should there be any developments, we will inform you in advance.
Our recommendation
If you are planning projects or repeat orders for the second half of the year, we recommend contacting your sales representative as soon as possible to discuss the option of stocking up in advance. Given the lengthening lead times and the continuing rise in component prices, such a step may prove financially worthwhile.
