Heating

Advantages

Lighting

+ connect strategically positioned motion sensor or digital lightswitch to digital input of the controller

Example: if the signal from motion sensor is received, turn the lights on for 30 sec
Example: if a pulse is received from digital light switch, turn on the lights 1, 2 and 3, if they are off, turn off, if they are on

 

Irrigation

Dimming and shutters

+ connect the motor circuits for shutter rolling to relay outputs
+ connect the digital wall switches to digital inputs
+ set the rules in the control softwware

Example: If the wall switch 1 is pressed, start rolling shutters down, if the wall switch 2 is pressed, start rolling shutters up
Example: if it is 19:00, roll down all shutters, and turn the lights on

Gate and garrage door

Remote and local control

How to start

The examples above were the specific applications you can use control units for. Controllers are universal and with a simple logic it is possible to automate a lot of different devices. What should you consider when choosing a cotroller? The main thing to consider is the number of required inputs and outputs. When planning connected devices it is always good to count on spare I/Os. You may realize during the installation that you need to connect more devices than you planned before.

For a basic Smart home system model M203 is fairly sufficient. It has optimal ratio of digital inputs and relay outputs and it is enough for connecting of several central heating digital valves, boiler and several lights and light switches. If you want home of the future, you will need the L203 or possibly combination of several control units or extension modules.
