A cost-effective way to extend I/O
If you need to expand your system with technology control or measurement, the different variants of the xS I/O extension modules ensure the right combination for every project. With xS modules, there is no need to expand the system with additional PLCs, resulting in cost savings, easier maintenance, and system flexibility. Up to 32 extension modules can be placed on a single bus to create a network with many inputs and outputs controlled by a single PLC.
Remote I/O
Unipi xS extension modules are suitable for accessing technology and sensors in a different location than the switchboard with PLC (typically a separate room, another floor of a building). Unipi xS is then connected to the control unit with a single data cable that can run over longer distances, significantly saving on cabling and maintenance costs and helping to prevent interference problems with analog signals.
Fully compatible with 3rd parties
Thanks to the widely used RS485 serial line and the Modbus RTU protocol, Unipi xS modules are fully compatible with all Unipi controllers and all devices that support this serial line and protocol.
Wide range of applications
Unipi xS modules are available in several variants, combining digital inputs, relay outputs, and analog I/O. The RS485 serial line is used for communication with the control unit.

Special features
Direct Switch
This function enables the extension output to react to an event on a digital input (e.g., light control) without the need of handling the logic in PLC, thus saving reaction time and bringing higher reliability.
Counter input
All digital inputs have a counter function; these are particularly suitable for reading data from electricity meters, water meters, gas meters, and other pulse meters forming part of HVAC systems. They also find use in motor speed readings.
Master Watchdog
This function continuously monitors the communication between the xS module and the controller. If no communication occurs during a user-defined period, the module processor restarts, and the adjustable default values (configuration, I/O) are loaded.
Setting communication parameters using a DIP switch
Communication parameters of Modbus RTU (baudrate, speed and parity) can be configured using integrated switches or via Modbus RTU itself providing wider range of options.
