Description

UniPi Neuron S103 is a universal control unit. It is a basic model of the Neuron modular PLC product range, designed for control and regulation of smart building systems, HVAC systems, industrial automation and others. The unit can also be utilized for energy consumption monitoring, data collection and their cloud storage, or it is possible to use it as a gateway for other devices (boilers, heaters etc.).

The Neuron S103 is the basic model for the whole Neuron line-up. Compared to Neuron M and Neuron L series, the S103 has fewer I/O modules and does not feature relay modules, but at the same time represents the most compact model.

As standard, the unit is equipped with DIN rail mount to attach the unit into distribution box. The required space is 4 DIN modules (1 module = 17.5 mm width).

Extension modules communicate over Modbus. It is possible to connect them to the control unit via RS485 interface. Extension modules are compatible with any control unit with the RS485 interface and Modbus support.

Thanks to a 1 GB RAM and 1.2 GHz quad-core CPU, the Neuron has a very low response rate (ie. delay between input signal reception and output response) of about 0.5 ms. The Neuron thus offers a professional level of performance in a compact and affordable package, stored in durable aluminium case.

The 1-Wire channel supports up to 15 digital thermometers connected.

Inputs & Outputs

Digital inputs (DI)are designed for reading of binary values (0/1, on/off, open/closed etc.) and are thus suitable for connecting switches, motion sensors, window or door magnetic locks etc.

Digital outputs (DO) can be used to control binary state devices, such as lightning switches, window shutters control, remote door control etc.

Analog inputs (AI) are used to receive either 0-10V voltage or 0-20mA current signals. Alternatively, they can be used for reading data from corresponding sensors, such as resistance thermometers. The user can adjust the input mode via corresponding control software.

Analog outputs (AO) are used for control of external devices such as three-way valves or heat exchangers via 0-10V voltage or 0-20mA current signals. Analog outputs allow current or voltage regulation - alternatively, Group 1 inputs can be used in combination with resistance thermal sensors.

Relay outputs (RO) are designed for switching two-state devices via alternating or direct voltage. Relays thus can be used to switch boilers, water heaters, electric motors or other stronger relays. Neuron unit relays are designed for 5A maximum current and 250V alternating/30V direct voltage.

The Neuron is suitable for all systems excluding security systems. These can be integrated by interconnecting the Neuron with security system master control unit via the Modbus interface. The Modbus can be used for control and integration of any device supporting the protocol.

Certification

Neuron is CE and EMC tested. According to standard, all UniPi Neuron products can be used in:

  • Residential buildings, apartments
  • Commercial areas, offices, banks
  • Entertainment areas, cinemas, bars, pubs, dance clubs
  • Outdoor places, gas stations, parking lots, sport centers
  • Areas of light industry, workshops, laboratories, service centers
